1. Get a Slimmer Wallet
The first step towards slimmer wallet is, well, to get a slimmer wallet that is designed to be slim. Lot of us get by with just a simple card holder.
Bellroy wallets are designed to stay slim, even when filled with cards and bank notes. This has been done by following few simple and effective principles:
- Unnecessary pockets, stitches and compartments have been removed.
- Daily cards have their own easy access slots. The rest, more rarely used cards can be stacked against each other inside the wallet, while saving up space.
- The leather is a little thinner than usual: it makes the whole wallet slimmer and adjusts well to your cards. The leather is still top class and durable.

Carrying just cards and few bank notes?
If you carry just cards and few bank notes, you can get by with the wallet taking folded bills. This way the wallet stays slim and all the essentials are on board:

2. Reduce the Content of Your Wallet
Get rid of random stuff
If there is still a grocery receipt from 1998 in your wallet, throw it away. The same applies to restaurant receipts, movie tickets and random ATM-receipts. Everything that seems to be important but actually isn't. We can't really comment on the stuff with sentimental value, but using your wallet as photo album is not recommended. If you really need the document, archive it.
Organize cards
Take each card out of your wallet. Put aside the cards that you use weekly, such as debit card, bus card and driving license. Place these cards in the card slots that have the easiest access in your wallet. After this, choose the cards that you really have to carry at all times, but which you don't use that much. Put these card in a pile and place them inside your wallet where they are secure but not in a way. The rest of the cards don't belong in the wallet - you can keep them on the table in your corridor, ready to be picked up when needed.
Lose the cash
Get used to the fact that you don't really need cash - especially not coins - anymore. Coins can be placed in a piggy bank, jeans pocket or in the car for parking change. Few banknotes can of course be folded in the wallet, they don't take that much space and become handy when you really need some cash.
3. Take Advantage of Your Mobile Device
Digitize receipts and documents
There are plenty of tools for digitizing and archiving receipts on a mobile device. One of the best options are Dropbox Scan -function and Evernote Scannable -app. Just scan and save, and your documents will be accessible later on all your devices.
Save the card Information
The above applies to cards that you don't physically need. You can also just save the card number in your contacts.
Save the business card data
When you receive a business card, you can take a picture and save it for later use. You could also download an app that is especially designed for this purpose, wihch scans the card and creates a contact in your smartphone.
4. The Two Wallet Method
If it's absolutely necessary to carry a lot of cards and other documents in your wallet, do yourself a favor and get an extra wallet that you can use when you want to travel lightly - for instance when going out. This way you can just quickly take the essentials onboard. Or, if you have a phone case with card slot, just take that with you.
5. Maintenance
Remember to go through your wallet on a regular basis - for instance, when cleaning up your desk!
