In 2019, the Evergoods started planning how they could improve the breathability, durability, and sustainability without sacrificing any of the CPL's signature feature sets or appearance. Excellent
After watching more reviews of that backpack than I'm comfortable to admit, I finally decided to pull the trigger and buy it. It's not cheap by any means, but the old saying "you get what you pay for" stands true. Except with this one you get more. The materials are amazing, the stitching is superb and bomb-proof, the pocketing and organisation are carefully considered and executed. Evergoods have put a lot of thought, effort and love into that backpack and you can see it inside and out. Comfort and looks are highly subjective. I'm 184cm high on tge lean side of the spectrum and it fits me well. No digging into the lower back. Saying it because people have had this problem into the past. And I like the way it looks, a lot. I realize I'm simping over a backpack and I'm not ashamed of it at all. I love it to bits. Money well spent.
I watched so many reviews regarding the CPL, but it took me a long time to get one. I wasn’t sure if it was just overhyped or really is that good. Well, it is. To be short.
Material and overall quality is topnotch. I like the way it sits on my back.
I’m always a bit biased and sceptical when it comes to zippers, but they’re great. Especially those from the main compartment, they’re really big and beefy.
My only complaint must be about the top handle. I use to hang my bag onto a wardrobe, but I wouldn’t recommend doing this with the CPL, for it has a stiff material woven into its handles. Unless you want your handle to be shaped like a triangle, I would avoid hanging it onto something narrow. I know it’s a design choice, but I’d prefer a softer handle.
But overall a superior bag!
It was a long decision-process before actually ordering the CPL24. One of my biggest concerns beforehand was that the main compartment would be too small. It is as a matter of fact small, however this has not turned out to be much of a problem.
The organisation is A+ and the real stronghold with this bag. It is very hard to fault it there. It is logically planned out, and travelling with this one has been a treat so far. Have done two airline travels since I got the bag, and it has honestly been perfect for that.
Why not five stars then? Well, the main compartment is smaller than I wish it was. The laptop compartment takes up way more space than needed, and I wish there could be a different division between them.
I ended packing less stuff compared to my Dsptch Daypack, but that also meant less weight on my shoulder. With extra planning on my part, it wasn't much of a drawback in the end, but I still think the laptop compartment is wasted space the way it is configured today.
Evergoodsin "lippulaivareppu" on tähtensä ansainnut. Jokainen yksityiskohta on tarkkaan mietitty ja lähtökohtaisesti reppu tuntuu todella hyvältä selässä. Uusi takapaneeli (tässä V3:ssa) pitäisi olla paremmin hengittävä, kuin aikaisemmissa versioissa, mutta sitä pääsee kunnolla testaamaan sitten lämpimämpien kelien myötä. Selkää vasten tulevassa repun alaosassa on pieni "nyppylä" jossa materiaalit ovat ommeltu yhteen. Se saattaa lyhyempää selkää hieman painaa, mutta itselleni ei tästä koitunut ongelmia.
Repun ulkopinnalla käytetty uusi materiaali vaikuttaa erinomaiselta. Omaan makuuni juuri sopivan kiiltävä/matta ja materiaali vaikuttaa kestävältä ja uskoisin pitävän hyvin myös kosteuden repun ulkopuolella. Vetoketjut eivät ole kuitenkaan vedenpitävät, mutta nekin kestänevät pienet sateet varmasti hyvin. Omaan käyttötarpeeseeni repussa on juuri sopiva määrä organisointimahdollisuuksia. Toimistokäytössä sivuttain käytettävät läppäritasku ja päällä oleva tasku toimivat hyvin. Repun päällä oleva "pikatasku" on tilava ja toimii hyvin, mutta taskussa olevan avainpidikenauhan olisin ehkä laittanut mieluummin repun pitkällä sivulla olevaan isompaan taskuun. On avainpidikenauhaakin kuitenkin tullut käytettyä.
Repun ulkopuolella olevissa kantokahvoissa on omat hyvät ja huonot puolensa. Pitkällä sivulla oleva kahva toimii hyvin siihen, mihin se on tarkoitettu. Ei kahvasta pidempiä aikoja reppuja varmaan halua kantaa, mutta nopeaan tarttumiseen ja repun kääntämiseen se toimii oikein hyvin. Päällä oleva pienempi kahva on hieman hankalampi käyttää. Kahvasta toki saa reppua kannettua (ei tosin tästäkään halua pidempään reppua kantaa, kahvan terävistä reunoista johtuen), mutta koska kahva on niin tiiviisti kiinni repussa, siitä on ajoittain hankala tarttua ja kahva pitää ikään kuin "kaivaa" esiin. Tässä on kuitenkin se hyvä puoli, että kun kahvoja ei käytä, ne ovat poissa tieltä ja reppu on mielestäni paremman näköinen ilman isoja kahvoja.
Kokonaisuudessaan olen hyvin tyytyväinen reppuun ja se vaikuttaa kaikin puolin laadukkaalta. Suurin heikkous on lienee korkea hinta ja onhan se korkea tällaisesta toimisto-/päivärepusta. Mutta reppu soveltuu kyllä oikeastaan minkälaiseen tilanteeseen ja ympäristöön tahansa ja olettaisin repun kestävän vuosia ja siinä on elinikäinen takuu. Jos pitää repun ulkonäöstä ja on valmis tekemään rahallisen satsauksen, tässä on erinomainen valinta.
This bag is great. Particular highlights for me include:
- the very roomy laptop section, in which I can safely and comfortably keep a lot of flat stuff like folders, notebooks, iPad, laptop and much more
- excellent top and front pockets for things I need frequently
- comfy and premium feeling materials
- the side handle is so easy to grab (top handle less so…)
looks great in all-black, but I also ordered from Mukama the Evergoods reflective patches and replacement zipper pulls, and for me the look is now perfect (see pic).
Love the design, the only issue is that it presses into the lower back and you have to really place it as high up on the back as possible for it not to be uncomfortable.
Roomy EDC backpack, great also for lighter traveling. Quality and the used material is really premium. The zippers of the main compartment stucks at the fabric on the edges. So be careful about that!
We’ve all been there. Spending countless hours watching and reading reviews, thinking it looks great, but seems too expensive. Well, it’s great! Just the right amount of organization and the right volume. It works equally great when fully packed or half empty. The quick side access functions excellently. Some reviews mentions the rather large laptop compartment, but it’s just a compartment that can be used for anything, really. I’m happy I bought it.
